newstart capsule: making a house a home
making a house a home
What is the newstart capsule?
Is a practical answer in difficult times and will be loaned to young people moving into there own tenancies.
South Ayrshire Nightstop newstart capsule was developed to fill a gap identified.
The newstart capsule offers practical support when individuals move into their new tenancies. Young people who are in the homeless system are able to pick a number of areas in South Ayrshire where they would like to live however they only get one choice and have to take the property offered and are forced to move in with nothing and have to wait 8 to 12 weeks until they receive their Community Care Grant to purchase goods for themselves.
The Newstart Capsule offers people practical household items they need to help them make their house a home and will be delivered after a small deposit is given to Nightstop, this is negotiation and only appropraite if young people can afford to pay something . The capsule can then be collected after the individual is able to purchase their own items. The deposit will be returned at this point if the capsule is complete.
What's in it?
The capsule includes camp bed, sleeping bag, practical cooking and cleaning equipment along with electrical items including a Microwave, Kettle, Toaster and a Mini Fridge. All the electrical items will be PAT tested after the Capsule is returned by a trained Pat tester. .
Each capsule will be refreshed and loaned out again after it is returned to Nightstop. Our Nightstop volunteers can deliver and collect the capsule.
